Day 3: Fes » Volubilis » Meknes » Rabat [209 km]

After a delicious breakfast, our third day begins with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Volubilis. These Roman ruins stand as evidence of enduring Roman influences in North Africa, where their intricate mosaics survived the devastating earthquake of 1755.

Despite the challenges of time and natural disasters, Volubilis remains resilient, displaying her enduring beauty. Our journey then leads us to Meknes, which is historically significant as a stronghold of the Roman Empire and was originally known as Meknes due to its Berber roots. Eventually, it rose to become one of the famous imperial cities.

Enjoy a captivating exploration, we will immerse ourselves in the authentic old quarters of Meknes. This part of the journey reveals an enchanting tapestry woven with history, glory, and magic. Our route then takes us to Rabat, the modern capital of Morocco. Here, we will discover a series of landmarks including the famous Hassan Tower, the majestic Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the captivating Kasbah of the Oudayas.

Day 4: Rabat » Casablanca » Marrakech [325 km]

The morning rises and our journey continues by visiting the greatness of the Hassan II Mosque. As the largest mosque in Morocco, the second largest in Africa, and the fifth largest mosque in the world, its monumental stature epitomizes the ingenuity of Moroccan craftsmen and the grace of Islamic architectural design.

After exploring the treasures of the mosque, we set our way to Marrakech in the early afternoon. As the train speeds toward its destination, we are getting closer to revealing more layers of Moroccan culture. Upon our arrival, we eagerly step into the vibrant tapestry of Marrakech by exploring the famous Jemaa El Fna square and the souk located inside the old city.

The arena’s nomenclature remains shrouded in intrigue. Some stories link it to the historical executions carried out by the sultans, while others attribute its name to the Mosque of the End of the World, steeped in spiritual significance. Today, Jemaa El Fna attracts Moroccans and travelers alike, offering an enticing mix of entertainment and a crossroads where different aspects of Moroccan culture intertwine.

Day 5: Marrakech Sightseeing with a Local Guide

As we go on our structured exploration, a knowledgeable local guide will escort us through the intricate tapestry of Marrakech. Our journey begins at the famous Koutoubia Mosque and then strolls through the charming old city, where bustling traditional souks await.

An in-depth meeting at the Ali Ibn Youssef Quranic School precedes our trip to the distinctive landmarks of Marrakech, including the Saadian Tombs, the sumptuous Bahia Palace, and the resplendent Majorelle Gardens. As night falls, we head back to the riad located within the old city, where dinner awaits us, offering a moment of quiet respite.

Day 6: Marrakech » Ait Ben Haddou » Ouarzazate » Dades Valley [325 km]

Leaving vibrant Marrakech, our route takes us up into the majesty of the High Atlas Mountains, ascending 2,260m via the Tizi-N’Techka Pass.

As we descend, the river bank reveals a tapestry of traditional Berber villages. Amidst this enchanting landscape, a hidden gem emerges – the Kasbah of Telouet. Although its exterior may appear humble, its interior rooms reveal a complex beauty, as it was once the residence of the governor of Marrakech. Decorated with exquisite tiles, stucco, and cedar wood, they whisper tales of their glorious past.

Continuing our 10 days Morocco tour from Fes, the road takes us to another famous treasure, the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou. Located next to the river, this fortified palace is a once thriving commercial center and reflects the history. After a nutritious lunch, we head to Ouarzazate and venture into the green Skoura palm grove adorned with hidden kasbahs.

Our route passes through the Valley of Roses before reaching Dades, where the embrace of night awaits us, marking a peaceful stop on our journey.

Day 7: Dades Gorges» Todra Gorges » Merzouga Desert [267 km]

After a hearty breakfast, our journey leads us through the enchanting Valley of Dades. Stunning rock formations become our companions as we stop to marvel at the stunning valleys along the way. Our route then winds through Tinghir and the enchanting Todra Valley, where ancient Berber villages stand sentinel over palm groves.

When we reach the Todgha Gorge, prepare to be dazzled by the towering red cliffs, which reach a height of 300 meters at their narrowest point. Our course then turns towards Erfoud and Rissani, historically known as Sijilmasa – the foundation of the Alawite dynasty. Lunch accompanies us at this stage of the journey.

When you appear in Merzouga, a warm cup of tea offers you a warm welcome. A night’s rest awaits you in a hotel or riad as we prepare for the next chapter of our exploration.

Day 8: Merzouga Sightseeing [60 km]

Today we will start exploring the Merzouga desert area, we will start by visiting the seasonal lake of Merzouga (Lake Cergy) towards the dark-skinned village (Velvets) originally from Mali to enjoy their music and way of life.

Next, we will head to the Memphis mines to explore how they work there before arriving behind the dunes in a scenic desert where we will sit for a cup of tea with the Bedouin Berbers (who live in tents) and be introduced to the family and their way of life.

Before returning to the hotel, after getting ready, local guides will teach you how to board, disembark, and other useful camel-related safety tips, then start exploring the mysterious sand sea in Erg Chebbi for (1 hour – 1h:30min). Overnight in a Berber tent.

Day 9: Merzouga Desert » Ziz Valley » Azrou » Ifrane » Fes [467 km]

After returning from the desert on camelback and refreshing with a shower, we will head to Rissani, the first imperial city in Morocco. Moving on, we will pass Erfoud – a village steeped in fossil heritage – and continue through the Ziz Valley. Here, panoramic views of palm groves and valleys will unfold as we pass the Tizi n Telghoumet Pass. Our arrival in Midelt required a satisfying lunch.

Proceeding along the highway, the cedar forest lures us to a stop, offering us a glimpse of the monkeys in their natural habitat. Beyond that lies Ifrane, fondly called the “Swiss Moroccan”. The culmination of our trip awaits us in Fes, the cultural heart of the nation. Dinner and rest await us at the hotel, while we prepare to savor the splendor of this captivating city.

Day 10: Transfer to Fes Airport [19 km]

Our day starts with a delicious breakfast. We will trek through the Tizi n Telghamt Pass, often referred to as the Camel Pass. Our next stop is Azrou, known for its distinctive stone formations, where we will pause to observe the local monkeys.

These monkeys live in cedar forests, adding a touch of wildlife to our trip. A satisfying lunch awaits us here. We continue our route and head towards Fes. In the afternoon, we will head either to your accommodation or to the airport, marking the conclusion of our rich 10 days Morocco tour from Fes.
